Avatar : Fire & Ash - TBA
Avatar : Fire & Ash is set to be the third installment in the Avatar franchise. Avatar Director James Cameron has directed three out of the five highest grossing films of all time including the first two Avatar films and Titanic. The Avatar franchise has so far grossed $5,241,220,412 and Titanic made $2,264,750,694. Any James Cameroon movie is worth a watch based on the director alone.
With the exception of Star Wars, Avatar has the best special effects and CGI that I've ever seen. If you don't trust me, the first two films both went on to win Oscars for best visual effects and best production design.
The Fantastic Four - July 25th
The original Fantastic Four movie was my favorite movie growing up. After watching it for the first time in nearly a decade, I can say the only thing going for it was nostalgia. It felt like I was watching a cheesy hallmark movie.
The Fantastic Four remake in 2013 had an all star cast including Oscar nominated actors Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. Based on the trailers it felt like there was no possible way the film could flop, but nonetheless it did. If you want to watch a superhero movie more for the plot with no action until the third act then I guess this could be worth a watch.
If this new Fantastic Four can learn from the mistakes of the previous adaptations then we are in for a real treat because the cast can't get any more perfect.Â
The film stars Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing.
Wicked Part Two : November 21st
Wicked is the best broadway musical adaptation in years, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo shine as Glinda and Elphaba in the origin story of one Hollywood's greatest villains, the Wicked Witch of the West. Only the twist is she’s not really that wicked.Â
Elphaba's only dream growing up was to meet the great Wizard of OZ. She figured meeting him would solve all her social problems. The opposite happens.
After finding out the Wizard is responsible for killing off the animal population, Elphaba decides to take matters into her own hands by exposing the Wizard of Oz for the phony he is.
Will Elphaba's decision cost her everything? Will she have to fight her best friend Glinda to put an end to the wizard's corruption? Wicked Part Two is sure to be another box office hit.
Superman - July 11
There is a reason James Gunn is now in charge of the new DC cinematic universe.
Gunn has never directed a bad superhero movie. The Guardians of the Galaxy’s trilogy and The Suicide Squad (2021) are all classics.Â
Superman is one of the hardest characters to write. He is often portrayed as this perfect god-like figure, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Clark Kent goes through the same struggles humans face on a daily basis. He struggles to make deadlines at the Daily Planet and acts awkward in front of Lois Lane. These are the parts that make us connect with Superman. In Man Of Steel Superman doesn't step foot in the Daily Planet. It may not seem like it matters much but trust me it does.
Luckily Gunn is a comic nerd in the best way possible. If there is anyone I would trust to direct the next Superman movie it is him.
Now you See Me 3 - TBA
Movies about magicians are always good, they just don't make enough. If you haven't seen the Prestige or the Illusionist I suggest you add both to your watchlist. What makes Now You See Me shine is that it's magicians are also part time bank robbers.
The four horsemen are a group of magicians who steal from shady corporations and give the money back to the people, Robin Hood style.
There is no time to zone out when watching Now You See Me. The twists and turns the first two movies take is enough to make you think Christopher Nolan was one of the directors.Â
Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Radcliffe, and Morgan Freeman are all returning to reprise their roles in the last installment.Â
